Our first Cross Country meet of the season is today. In my devotions this morning I was reading Psalm 19 and verses 4 and 5 jumped out at me.
Psalm 19:4-5 (NLT2)
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. 5 It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
We have a lot of eager athletes ready to run the race today, but it's the ones who are ready - who put in the work. Maybe that's why the verse talks about a "great athlete". It's possible that greatness is related to readiness.
