What To Pack

I heard some great advice from Mike Rowe in a podcast yesterday. He was talking about how so often young people are told with regard to their career to just "follow their passion" and why that often turns out to be terrible advice.

Just because you are passionate about something doesn't necessarily mean you are good at it. (I love singing, but let's just say that as a singer,... I make a great pastor.) There's nothing wrong with being passionate about something, and maybe that will make a great hobby. Your passion may help point you in a direction, but "following" your passion makes your desires your leader, and they may not lead you to where you want to end up.

So Mike's advice is, "Never follow your passion, but always bring it with you."

The Apostle Paul put it this way for Christ-followers: "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus."
